Just missed it

Thought i would blog every day but it seems I just missed it. 3 minutes past twelve, I’ll keep it brief.

Kenny and Gemma were over to-day on Seaflower from Shieldaig, they saw a whale around Rona so their guests were happy. Mike carried on with the wall and it is a big lift tomorrow. Alan continued his forestry work and myself and lorraine did paperwork this morning in the sunshine but spent the rest of the day preparing dinner for our guests.

The Dutch Arrived To-day

In the middle of it all some Dutch kayakers arrived. They were looking for camping but i persuaded them that the top of Raasay was better, at least they would get a sea breeze to keep the midgies away.

Later on Yacht Escapade came back and Martin the skipper asked for some prawns so i organised a delivery to-day. We were busy cooking so we left them on the pontoon for the collection. We’ll see them to-day later this morning.

Prawns for Yacht Escapade

Later on the Supper Club arrived, Malcolm and Moira Yacht Feshie, Alan and Mike. We had a full menu although it was a trial menu. Just a starter, squat lobster crostini, bramble/gin jelly, crab cake, Stornoway Black Pudding and fillet of venison, followed by Strawberry Fumble (again) Followed again by whiskys etc!!!!! Here they are and that’s enough tonight.

The Tuesday Club

About Bill Cowie

I've been living on the island since April 2002, alone for the first 5 years, my partner L joined me in 2007. We manage the Island for a Danish family who bought the Island in the early 90's. Their hopes for the Island are to make it self sufficient supporting its inhabitants and that is where we come in. We look after the stock, 3 holiday cottages, machinery, boat and of course the visitors. It is pretty challenging but it is a beautiful place to live and work, we love it and strangely enough we love it even more in the depths of winter when all is quiet apart from the gales and rain. We do a bit of fishing, stock work, stalking deer and loads of other stuff. We have good support from lots of people whom we have met over the years and have become involved in the Island. Too many to mention here but keep an eye on the blog, they'll be there for sure in the future.
