Here we are, my second year kicking off with a full programme of events. If you bear with me as I am still trying to get the hang of WordPress again after my sporadic posts of the last few years, where I kind of lost my way with it. Blogs are notoriously difficult to keep going!!! I have learned a lot so far. First of all I have to consult my diary for this year and map out the layout of the events unfolding and hopefully keep your attention.
This year the deer arrived, the pontoon was made, the cows were dealt with, the cottages got underway, the list goes on and on. Where to start? Looking briefly through the 2003 diary I am staggered of how much was going on, buzzing might describe the way it was and even then every experience was new.
I hope to tidy up the 2002 opening chapter, in the meantime it will have to wait. This year will be different as I try to record my memories of a special time in my life.
One of my main aims on Rona was to make the Island pay. I had heard so much about the cost of running an Estate/Island during my 12 years as a Forestry Contractor and wondered how on earth it took so much money to run especially with all of these grants that Land Owners had access to. Without taking into consideration the wealth that Landowners had. My reasoning being that if you are lucky enough to be in a position to buy land in Scotland then surely that individual would have enough financial resource to manage and develop it.
I was in for a shock, that story will unfold.
Updated to-day after a call from one of my Rona guests, pointing out a link error, apologies for that.
Now I can turn my attention to 2003.
