Good to see you’ve got the seed trays ready, ever the optomist? Can’t begin to think about veggie gardening here, it’s too cold! Not liking the green door! Was never a Shakin Steven’s fan! Enjoy reading your bloggs and dreaming about sunny times. Love from Ali and Clive
Hello love the photos and I believe ya now about the weather what a glorious day it looked to be. It is still very cold here in Plymouth despite that owners are getting the boats ready for the up and coming busy season lets hope that the summer is a good one for one and all. Take care of yourselves x Best Wishes from Karen at MECAL Marine Surveyors in Plymouth.
I’ve not been to Rona for about 60 years!
My parental home was Applecross & in those days it was all but uninhabited – though I met The Ronach and his sister!
They shared a Butt & Ben and I saw him several times ‘Rowing’!!! to Kyle in good weather, to load with supplies AND top up with fuel in the pub before rowing home!!
I recall he seemed to take on a little too much fuel and was found, with his rowing boat fully loaded tied to the harbour but he had fallen in the sea & drowned – possibly a stroke or hear attck I never heard!
I spent about a week alone on Rona one summer around 1965ish.
I have not been back since – I spent some time climbing in Skye and also we were forced to sink an Orkney cutter just off land in Rasay, for fear it would get smashed on the rocks in a gale! I spent the best part of a week in November forced to lie in the wave line with the vessel dragged out once the storm ended – tingling it to make it sound & then JUST made it back to Applecross Bay with a very welcome line aboard for the last 200yards (as we were close to sinking) from The Applecross trawler on route back from fishing in the sea south of Iceland.
The things we do in our youth!
I am some 10 years older than you!
Enjoy your retirement – Greg_L-W.
